Committees

I’m a member of a number of committees and I spend a considerable amount of my time participating in their work. The City of Hamilton’s also hosts a list of all of the committees I sit on as the Ward 2 City Councillor. I have listed the committees that meet most often, but not all to which I am appointed (49 in total). To search all City Committees, Boards, Agencies, and Tribunals, visit the City’s website.

If it’s helpful to know, I’m assigned to some committees by the City because I’m the Ward 2 City Councillor, including my mandatory obligations to represent the City at the boards of downtown Business Improvement Areas (BIAs), various shareholder and municipal service corporations, and Standing Committees. There are some committees I have chosen to join like the Hamilton Farmers’ Market Board of Directors, Hamilton Waterfront Trust Board of Trustees, and Hamilton Police Services Board.

For a breakdown of the committees I’m on, the information below defines the committees by type and my role on them and there are links to the City’s website for more information on committee meetings and membership.

* While it is not mandatory to sit on each of these committees, every Councillor must sit on 2 of 4 of the following Standing Committees – Audit, Finance and Administration; Emergency and Community Services; Planning; Public Works. I have chosen to sit on all 4 as there are often issues directly related to Ward 2 and I want to ensure Ward 2 residents are represented during Committee discussions and decisions.
